I RL, YOU RL is a poetry collection initially published by minutes BOOKS in 2014. After being out of print for a time, it was republished by Troll Thread one year later. As the title suggests, this book by Sophia Le Fraga, a trained linguist, is about the internet and the way people talk on it. The book is divided into seven chapters, making use of different found material edited and formatted into verse by the author. The sources are emails, social media, and dating profiles, most notably messages denying Le Fraga of being an author or her texts of being poetry, which are collected in the first chapter “H8M8.” The chapter “I DON’T WANT ANYTHING” contains poems written on request, using only material from the feed, wall, or email of the person making the request: “People love to hear themselves talk” (Sophia Le Fraga, interview with Andrew Worthington).
Our copy has a faulty trim and there are print commands in the bleed. These errors are even more visible on the cover, which already has crop marks to indicate that this is a reprint for which the minute BOOKS original has been adapted to the new format.
